I have a vintage elgin wrist watch from the 20's. How do I remove the back casing to find out the model?
IT is a silver elgin from the 1920's.. It's works perfectly.. I am wanting to do some reaserch on it and I would like to find out the model number. How do I remove the back casing of the watch?
The backs are given to scratching pretty easily, so I'd take it possibly to a watch repair shop. I'm guessing since it's pretty old you're going to want to take good care of it and a repair shop (or even one of those Dakota kiosks in the malls) would be a good place to take it since they have the proper tools. A lot of places will also do this for free.
