How can i get my black ghost knife fish to eat?
I bought it about a week ago and i haven't seen it eat ANYTHING that i have put in the tank, and yes i did shut the lights off to see if it would eat the food and in the morning it was all still lying around(the food was). I have tried frozen blood worms, beef heart, frozen shrimp, live mosquito larvae, high quality flake food, and sinking carnivore pellets. When i bought it, it was about 3 inches long and cost $15. I first housed it solo in a 10 gallon where it didn't eat, now its in a 55 with 3 bala sharks, 1 senegal bichir, 1 armored bichir, and 2 pictus catfish. I'm afraid that my fish won't make it, its getting skinnier everyday. Please help!
thanks for the answer breely. I have read somewhere that ghost's turn white-ish when they are hungry, mine is still black...(its not transparent)
Either the fish is sick or incredibly stressed out. If there is a Pet Land near you GO. They have stress coat and medications that won't affect your other fish and will take care of the transparent Black Knife. If he is sick beyond repair and he dies, then you need to take a water sample and the dead fish IN SEPARATE BAGS to the place you got him from or the nearest pet land or pet store to have your water tested. They will give you a new one if it is in their warranty. But those are your options. I wish your fish well!
